On the evening of August 10, 2023, the police blocked the entrance to the Lower Lavra and did not allow pilgrims who left the monastery to return to the monastery. This is evidenced by a video published on the Lavra Now Telegram channel.

According to the pilgrims, no one warned them about such restrictive measures. The woman filming the video said that her child was left in the monastery hotel. In addition, people who came to the Lavra left their personal belongings there.

The police even denied access to an elderly schema nun, who lives in the monastery.

In response to the claims, law enforcement officers recommended that believers contact the administration of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra National Reserve with all questions.

As the UOJ reported, earlier the reserve announced that from 7:00 am on August 11, it closes the entrance to the Lower Lavra for everyone, except for priests, monks and monastery workers.
