St. Tikhon’s Monastery Gears Up for Annual Pilgrimage Unlike Any Other
St. Tikhon’s Orthodox Monastery (OCA) is set to welcome pilgrims for its 121st annual Memorial Day Pilgrimage, but this year’s gathering is anything but ordinary—it marks the 100th anniversary of the repose of St. Tikhon of Moscow, the monastery’s founder and a towering figure in Orthodox Christianity.
The weekend-long event, running May 24-26, will feature a Festival Choir under the direction of esteemed choral conductor Anastasia Kappanadze. Pilgrims can lend their voices in tribute, culminating in the Hierarchical Liturgy on Monday. Additional information and registration for the Festival Choir are available here.
Meanwhile, St. Tikhon’s Choir, led by Fr. Caleb Lewis, will present a special concert celebrating the sacred music cherished by St. Tikhon himself—along with musical arrangements composed by members of the community at St. Tikhons.
The concert begins with a talk on the life of St. Tikhon and is followed by a wine reception. Additional details and registration are available here.
While pilgrimage is always an edifying and worthy effort, this year's pilgrimage offers a unique opportunity for Orthodox Christians from across jurisdictional lines to pay tribute to a saint whose labors shaped Orthodox life in America.
