GREENVILLE, SC — The Orthodox Christian Deaf Association will host its upcoming OCDA Conference April 17–19, 2026, at St. John of the Ladder Orthodox Church in Greenville, South Carolina. Centered on the theme “The Word Made Flesh,” the gathering will bring together Orthodox Deaf and hard-of-hearing faithful, clergy, families, and friends from across the nation for a weekend of fellowship, worship, and education.
The conference will explore how Deaf culture integrates into the life of the Orthodox Church while highlighting ongoing efforts to strengthen parish accessibility. Participants will also witness the introduction of new American Sign Language signs developed for use in the Divine Liturgy—an initiative aimed at deepening liturgical participation and fostering fuller inclusion within worshiping communities.
Organizers encourage early registration here or by contacting orthodoxdeaf@gmail.com. The event reflects the association’s continued commitment to accessibility, community building, and the flourishing of Deaf Orthodox faithful within the life of the Church.
Previously, the UOJ reported that the Diocese of the South launched the Matushki Meet-Up.
