SHREVEPORT, LA — This upcoming Sunday, March 1, 2026 — the Sunday of Orthodoxy — will mark the first livestreamed Divine Liturgy with American Sign Language interpretation organized by the Orthodox Christian Deaf Association (OCDA).

OCDA interpreter Deanna Patel will provide ASL interpretation during the livestream from Holy Trinity Orthodox Church (OCA), expanding access to the liturgical life of the Church for Deaf Orthodox faithful. The initiative represents a significant milestone in the association’s efforts to serve and connect the Orthodox Deaf community across the United States and beyond.

In welcoming visitors to its website, OCDA asks for prayers and feedback as it works to grow its outreach. The organization also encourages supporters to share its online presence, including its Facebook page, Orthodox Deaf.

Previously, the UOJ reported that Metr. Saba’s Sunday of Orthodoxy message highlighted the seminarians’ role.
