KODIAK, AK — On Feb. 23, 2026, His Eminence Abp. Alexei began Clean Week services with students at St. Herman Seminary, prayerfully leading seminarians into Great Lent while fostering fellowship with their hierarch. On Monday and Tuesday evenings, Abp. Alexei presided at Lenten Compline with the Canon of St. Andrew of Crete, setting a sober and hopeful tone for the season.
During the seminary’s annual Lenten retreat, he reflected on an 18th-century broadside of the Fearsome Judgment, contrasting the radiant Kingdom with Gehenna and warning against the serpent’s promise of “later.” He urged the seminarians to let fear mature into repentance and ultimately into love, reminding them that the final word is the Kingdom because Christ is merciful and good.
On Wednesday, he celebrated the Presanctified Divine Liturgy at Holy Resurrection Cathedral, before returning to St. Innocent Cathedral to conclude the week’s services.
Previously, the UOJ reported that Abp. Alexei celebrated Nativity in Anchorage and called the faithful to make room for Christ.
