SOUTH CANAAN, PA — Fr. Kyril (Yefimov), a longtime monk of St. Tikhon of Zadonsk Monastery, reposed in the Lord on the feast of the Triumph of Orthodoxy, according to the Orthodox Church in America. He was 79.

Born in Russia in 1946, Fr. Kyril immigrated to the United States in the early 1990s and entered the monastery in 1997. In 2003, he was tonsured into the small schema by Metr.  Herman. Known for his quiet, semi-hermitic life, he served for many years as the monastery’s groundskeeper and beekeeper and was also recognized as a gifted cook.

Fr. Kyril endured multiple battles with cancer and reposed following a recurrence of kidney cancer. His funeral will be held at the monastery on Thursday, March 5, at 11:00 a.m. Donations in his memory may be made to the monastery to help offset funeral expenses.

Previously, the UOJ reported that Metr. Dimitrios of Xanthos reposed at 88 in Florida.
