HCHC Students Serve Communities Through Mission Trips

BROOKLINE, MA — Nine students from Hellenic College Holy Cross recently took part in two service initiatives through the school’s Missions Institute, partnering with International Orthodox Christian Charities and the Neighbor Resilience Project. The efforts provided students with opportunities to serve communities in need while deepening their understanding of Orthodox Christian service.

Four students traveled to Erwin, TN, where they joined an IOCC Action Team assisting families recovering from a hurricane. They worked on a demolition site, supported local outreach efforts, and helped distribute essential goods. Students described the experience as both humbling and inspiring, with some expressing a desire to return for future service.

Five others traveled to Pittsburgh, PA, working with the Neighbor Resilience Project alongside Fr. Paul Abernathy. There, they contributed to community initiatives focused on healing and resilience, gaining firsthand experience of ministry in action and reflecting on the importance of serving others.
