LOMPOC, CA — An initiative to establish an Orthodox Village and Retreat Center on the Central Coast of California is gaining momentum, with organizers outlining a vision for a 123-acre spiritual refuge dedicated to prayer, rest, and renewal. Located a few miles from the Pacific Ocean, the property already includes several homes, outbuildings, and open land intended for future development.

Project leaders say the retreat will serve both the faithful and Orthodox clergy across North America, offering a place for spiritual retreat amid growing pastoral demands. The vision draws inspiration from a call by Metr. Saba, who has encouraged the creation of “Bethany Houses” for rest and fellowship. Planned features include cabins, yurts, a chapel, and facilities for hosting structured retreats and visiting speakers.

The development is structured in phases, beginning with raising $1.5 million to secure the land, followed by preparing housing, building retreat accommodations, and expanding into agricultural sustainability projects such as orchards, livestock, and a vineyard for communion wine. Organizers are seeking donors and investors to help bring the vision to fruition and create a model that can be replicated across the continent.

Donations for the acquisition and development of the retreat center can be made here

Previously, the UOJ reported that Metr. Saba called for compassion and aid on Palm Sunday.
