Abp. Daniel Welcomes Bp. Vasily in Chicago

CHICAGO — His Eminence Abp. Daniel of Chicago and the Midwest welcomed His Grace Bp. Vasily of San Francisco and the West to Holy Trinity Cathedral on April 25–26 during a visit connected to the Orthodox Church in America (OCA) Diocese of the Midwest’s annual clergy convocation, where Bp. Vasily served as a featured speaker.
On Saturday evening, the hierarchs attended the All-Night Vigil served by the cathedral clergy. The following morning, on the Sunday of the Myrrhbearing Women, Abp. Daniel and Bp. Vasily concelebrated the Divine Liturgy. They were joined by Priest Alexander Koranda, Archpriest Tarasiy Maxim, Dn. Paul Garklavs, and Dn. Timothy Heinbokel, with the cathedral choir directed by Rdr. Vladimir Lymar.
After the service, Abp. Daniel formally welcomed Bp. Vasily and spoke about the historical ties between their dioceses. In response, Bp. Vasily expressed gratitude for the invitation and the opportunity to serve. During the visit, Fr. Alexander presented Bp. Vasily with a hand-painted portrait of Holy Trinity Cathedral created by a parishioner.
A festive meal followed the Prayers of Thanksgiving, concluding the weekend’s liturgical celebrations and fellowship.
