BOSTON — The Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Boston is calling on the faithful to support a local family whose home was destroyed in a devastating fire earlier this month, leaving them displaced and facing a long recovery process.
The May 4 blaze reportedly began in the garage and rapidly spread through the residence due to strong winds and dry weather conditions. The family safely escaped the burning home with their three children — James, Michael and Nina — along with their two dogs. The fire rendered the home uninhabitable after nearly seven years of residence there.
Church leaders said the family is currently staying in temporary hotel accommodations while beginning the insurance process and addressing urgent financial needs. The Metropolis encouraged Orthodox Christians throughout the region to offer prayers and assistance as the family rebuilds their lives following the tragedy.
Support may be offered through the family’s Give InKind page.
Previously, the UOJ reported that Bp. Andrei presided at a Canadian parish recently affected by fire.
