KHMELNYTSKYI OBLAST, UKRAINE — Archimandrite Galaktion (Redey), a monk of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church’s (UOC) St. John the Baptist Monastery in Velyka Kalynivka, has returned to his monastic community after being released from the Khmelnytskyi city Territorial Recruitment Center (TRC) on May 27, 2026, according to the Khmelnytskyi Eparchy press service. Church officials said the cleric underwent a personal data check and a military medical commission before his release.

The eparchy reported that Archimandrite Galaktion was subsequently returned to the monastery where he has lived and served for nearly two decades as both a monk and spiritual father. The St. John the Baptist Monastery, located in the village of Velyka Kalynivka, has been his long-term place of residence and ministry within the local ecclesiastical community.

Church representatives expressed gratitude to those who assisted in securing his return, thanking “people of goodwill” for their efforts. The announcement framed the development as a positive resolution following his brief detention at the TRC facility, which oversees military registration and related administrative procedures in Ukraine.

Previously, the UOJ reported that a UOC Metropolitan was found guilty of religious incitement.
