CHICAGO — The Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago Foundation has launched a search for a new independent director who will also serve as the organization’s treasurer, seeking a qualified Greek Orthodox Christian to help oversee the foundation’s financial and operational responsibilities.

The position carries significant leadership responsibilities within the foundation, including participation in fundraising efforts, investment oversight, and the review of financial and accounting reports. Foundation officials said the successful candidate will work alongside other members of the board of directors in guiding the organization’s stewardship and long-term mission.

Because the role includes serving as treasurer, the foundation is seeking applicants with experience in accounting, bookkeeping, audits, financial reporting, or related fields. The treasurer is responsible for supervising the organization’s external bookkeeper, assisting with the preparation of financial statements, and overseeing the annual independent audit process. Officials noted that applicants should possess the knowledge and experience necessary to fulfill these duties effectively.

The selected individual will serve a three-year term running from Jan. 1, 2027, through Dec. 31, 2029. Applications are being accepted through Nov. 2, 2026, and interested candidates are encouraged to review eligibility requirements and application materials provided by the foundation.

The Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago Foundation said questions and completed applications should be directed to Vicki Pappas Karl at vkarl@gomocfoundation.org. The application can be downloaded from the link above, and interested parties can read more about the Metropolis Foundation here
