Moldovan Metropolitanate Denounces Alleged Media Campaign

CHIȘINĂU, MOLDOVA — As reported by UOJ-Germany, the Orthodox Church of Moldova issued an official statement on June 9 expressing concern over what it described as efforts to damage the public image of Metr. Vladimir of Chișinău and All Moldova. Church officials characterized recent media coverage as part of a coordinated campaign with clearly defined objectives.

The Metropolitanate of Moldova stated that it has become the target of a deliberate image attack and said there are serious reasons to believe the campaign represents the opening stage of a broader effort aimed at discrediting both the Metropolitanate and Metr. Vladimir personally.

According to the statement, representatives of the Church's public relations department view the media reports as the first step in a wider strategy directed against the clergy. The Metropolitanate urged journalists and the broader public to observe standards of decency and Christian conduct, emphasizing that certain "red lines" should not be crossed in discussions involving religious matters.

Church leaders stressed that, during a period marked by numerous social and economic challenges, the Church remains a source of stability, hope, and moral support for believers. They argued that attempts to weaken the authority of the Church could have negative consequences for society by undermining an institution that helps people navigate spiritual and personal difficulties.

The Metropolitanate concluded by calling for fairness, responsibility, and mutual respect, describing these values as essential for preserving trust and overcoming the difficulties facing society with dignity. The statement also emphasized the importance of honesty and respect in maintaining stability within the country.
