CINCINNATI — Christ the Savior–Holy Spirit Orthodox Church marked its 50th anniversary with a weekend of liturgical celebrations and fellowship led by His Beatitude Metr. Tikhon, Primate of the Orthodox Church in America (OCA).

Metr. Tikhon traveled to Cincinnati at the invitation of Abp. Daniel of Chicago and the Midwest and was welcomed upon arrival by the Archbishop and Archpriest Herman Kincaid, chancellor of the Diocese of the Midwest. Accompanied by Protodeacon Peter Ilchuk, the primate proceeded to the parish, where he presided at Great Vespers on June 6. A reception in the church hall followed the service, allowing parishioners and guests to begin the anniversary observance together.

The celebrations continued the following day with a hierarchical Divine Liturgy led by Metr. Tikhon. Concelebrating were Abp. Daniel, Abp. Melchisedek of Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania, parish rector Archpriest Steven Kostoff, Archpriest Herman Kincaid, Archpriest Alexander Rentel, and Archpriest Dennis Buck. At the conclusion of the service, Abp. Daniel welcomed the visiting hierarchs and offered greetings to the parish community on the occasion of its milestone anniversary.

The weekend concluded with a banquet at Xavier University’s Cintas Center, where clergy and faithful reflected on the history and growth of the parish over the past five decades. Speakers offered remarks on the congregation’s legacy and extended congratulations to parishioners before Metr. Tikhon departed for Washington, D.C.

Previously, the UOJ reported that Abp. Daniel announced synodal clergy awards in the Diocese of Chicago.
