The authors of anti-church laws want to ask Constantinople for autocephaly

A draft resolution on the appeal of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to His Holiness Bartholomew, Archbishop of Constantinople and New Rome, Ecumenical Patriarch for the autocephaly of the Orthodox Church in Ukraine has been registered in the Parliament, reports the website of the Verkhovna Rada.

The text of draft resolution #4793 of June 7, 2016 is not yet available on the site of the VR. The authors of the document are Speaker Andrei Parubiy, deputies from the Narodny Front Sergei Vysotsky, Andrei Levus, Nikolai Kniazhytsky, Victor Yelensky and Maria Matios from the Poroshenko Block.

Victor Yelensky is known as one of the initiators of the odious bill #4128, which, according to experts, will legalize the church raid. Andrei Levus and Sergei Vysotsky are among the initiators of another no less controversial bill #4511 "On special status of religious organizations whose senior centers are located in the state recognized by the Verkhovna Rada as an aggressor country."
