Former MP: intervention into religious sphere can trigger off fratricidal war

If we get involved in inter-denominational wars – it’ll bring about fratricidal war. It was reported by Anna German in the interview to the program “Big Politics”.

“If we get stuck in inter-confessional wars – which we won’t be able to get out of  – we will really have a war against our own “kith and kin” with Ukraine losing its statehood. You know the world history and you know that the most blood-shedding, atrocious, and long-lasting wars are religious ones. I fear it may be a Ukrainian scenario,” the deputy said.

“This scenario was going to be performed at the beginning of the Independence of Ukraine. As early as Kravchuk being the first President, the Ukrainian enemies were trying to pit one religion against another, one denomination against another, Orthodox faithful with Greek-Catholics. Fortunately, it was blown out. The Ukrainians turned out to be so much sensible they did not fall for this provocation. I do hope the nation will be able to withstand these new provocations again,” she said.

“Every draft law aimed at regulating the life of religious communities appears a big provocation. The faithful should decide themselves what Church they want to affiliate to,” concluded the politician.
