Deputies of Ternopol regional council want to check legal transfer of Pochaev Lavra to UOC

Draft decision #279 of 07/14/2016 "On establishment and election of a temporary control commission of the Ternopol Regional Council to verify the legitimacy of the transfer of the temple complex in the town of Pochaev to the UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate" is published on the official website of Ternopol Regional Council.
The document states that a separate division of the public organization "All-Ukrainian organization Self-Defense of Maidan" in the Ternopol region filed a claim (on June 2, 2016, #27) on the establishment of the temporary commission of the Ternopol Regional Council to verify the legitimacy of the transfer of the temple complex in the town of Pochaev to the UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate.
The draft decision of the Standing Committee on spirituality, culture, freedom of expression, media and civil society development of the Ternopol Regional Council states its intention to create a temporary commission of Ternopol Regional Council to verify the legitimacy of the transfer of the temple complex in the town of Pochaev to the UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate.
The Commission is invited to include representatives from all parliamentary factions of the Ternopol Regional Council. The Commission shall submit the findings and conclusions until 25 August.
The Ternopol Regional Council appealed to the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine with the requirement to return the Pochaev Lavra a status of the state reserve. The decision of the regional council held on May 12 was supported by 54 people’s deputies.
