Archbishop Job (Gecha): a fundamental human right is to confess religion without any intrusion of the power
A fundamental human right is to defend basic religious freedom in all its dimensions – the right to free practice of one’s religious duties without any intrusion of the power. It was told by representative of the Constantinople Patriarchate, Archbishop Job of Thelmessos, during the festivity on the occasion of Baptism of the Kievan Rus. It is reported by the UOC Awareness-Raising Department.
Drawing attention of the attendees to the significance of sincere cooperation of the Church and the state for the sake of human dignity, His Eminence Job reminded that the Church condemns ethnophyletism, i.e. radical nationalism. “A fundamental human right is to defend basic religious freedom in all its dimensions – the right to free practice of one’s religious duties without any intrusion of the power, as well as to free teaching of religion and providing conditions for the activity of religious communities,” expounded the CP representative.
Archbishop Job laid an emphasis on the fact that the Holy and Great Christ’s Church continually prays and acts in behalf of peace restoration in Ukraine, “against schisms and heresies. The Church never ceases its advocacy and work in order to rejuvenate the unity of the church body,” underscored the Archbishop.
He declared that the “war and blood-shedding must stop; justice must win for the peace and those, who were driven out of their grandparents’ houses, to come back.”
