Ministry of Education recommends kindergartens to celebrate Ivan Kupala Day and Intercession of Holy Virgin – harvest festival

The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine recommends the heads of pre-school establishments a list of national holidays to be used in the work with children, reports Newshub.

As reported by the press-service of the agency, it is recommended to celebrate national holidays according to the calendar of seasonality, particularly in autumn – the Intercession of the Holy Virgin, the harvest festival; in winter – St. Nicholas Day, Christmas holidays, Candlemas; in spring – Easter and different spring folk song fests; in summer – green holidays, Ivan Kupala (Midsummer), a harvest festivals, Spas (Saviour).

"Educating children on the basis of national rituals instills a love to the Ukrainian language, the native land, forms the civic consciousness and brings an aesthetically developed personality," as they note in the Ministry of Education.

"Teachers should work with the families of their pupils and explain the importance of observance of Ukrainian traditions and customs in the family too," added the MES.
