Christmas carol fest to be held in Kiev-Pechersk Lavra

VI Ukrainian festival of carols "Christmas Chime" will be held on January 10 at the Refectory Church in honor of Saints Anthony and Theodosius in the Holy Dormition Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, reports the site of the monastery.

The traditional concert dedicated to Christmas will bring together a number of church and secular choirs from different cities of Ukraine.

Christmas carols and New Year songs will be performed by: the choir of the Lavra Church in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "Life-Giving Spring", the choir "Bell" of the Kiev Palace of Children and Youth, the Revutskiy Municipal Academic Male Choir (Kiev), the folk group "Mokoshi" of the Vinnitsa State Institute of Music, the choir of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukrtaine "Golden Gate" and the Bortnianskiy Academic Chamber Choir (Chernigov).

The festival is traditionally held to raise funds for the treatment of children with cancer.

The concert begins at 17.00. The admission is free.

Lavra’s brethren initiated the festival "Christmas Chime" in 2012. Since then it has become a tradition to hold it annually.

The last time the concert was attended by nine choirs from Kiev and Chernovtsy.
