Catholicos-Patriarch of Georgia to undergo surgery in Germany

Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II of Georgia who is treated in Germany will be operated on February 13, reports News-Georgia citing the press service of the Georgian Patriarchate.

His Holiness Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II was taken to Germany on February 2 after a laboratory examination revealed he had a fever after dealing with kidney stones.

According to the statement of the Georgian Patriarchate, preparations for the surgery are currently underway.

“According to the information coming from Germany, the Catholicos-Patriarch's clinical, laboratory and instrumental examination was finished on February 8. Based on the collected data, the necessity of surgical intervention was confirmed. The surgery is scheduled for Monday, February 13,” says the statement.
