Florence Cathedral Santa Maria del Fiore struggling with vandals using «digital graffiti»
«Leaving traces on the monuments is antisocial behavior, but at the same time the desire to leave a mark is part of human nature,» reads the statement of the staff of the Cathedral, the text of which results in the publication.
System «digital graffiti» was launched a year ago. The first panel was installed in the bell tower of the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore. According to the Museum staff, the system was successfully tested yourself – visitors to the monument left on the electronic panels of more than 18 thousand records.
«If you – virtually – leave a message, we save it. As well as the masterpieces of the Cathedral,» reads the informational plaque next to the digital panels.

The Minister of culture of Italy Dario Franceschini called for tougher penalties after a series of incidents at the Coliseum, where it was repeatedly arrested tourists for the inscriptions on the walls of the monument.
