80% of pupils are subject to violence at school, – human rights defenders

80% of pupils are subject to violence at school, and only few children report offences, the head of the Educational Centre of the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union Sergei Burov said at the press conference GolosUa.

"About 80% of children at school were subject to bulling, harassment and psychological violence, but only 4% asked for help," the expert said.

According to him, children in Ukraine do not know where to turn for help, and they are afraid to seek help. "This means that we do not have procedures, opportunities in the very school where you can apply to," S. Burov added.

At the same time, the human rights activist added that in Ukraine since 2011 the institute of school policemen has been introduced, by analogy with American and Canadian specialists, however this system hasn’t been successful yet.
