Primate and UOC believers honor the memory of His Beatitude Metropolitan Vladimir (PHOTOS)

On July 5, the third anniversary of the death of His Beatitude Metropolitan Vladimir (Sabodan, +2014), His Beatitude Metropolitan of Kiev and All Ukraine Onufry celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Assumption Cathedral of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra and a memorial service at the grave of the deceased Primate of the UOC, reports the Information-Education Department of the UOC.

During the Liturgy, there were prayers for peace in Ukraine and for the repose of the soul of the deceased Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

After the dismissal, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry addressed the flock with a word in which he remembered the deceased Metropolitan Vladimir. "Today we remember our mentor and teacher, who taught us not only with words, but with his own work and example. May God rest his soul, and save us and have mercy on us," the Archpastor concluded.

After the Divine Liturgy at the grave of His Beatitude Metropolitan Vladimir, the memorial service to honor the late Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church was held.

On July 5, 2014, in the 79th year of life, after a long and debilitating illness, Metropolitan Vladimir of Kiev and All Ukraine (Sabodan) departed to the Lord. His Beatitude headed the Ukrainian Orthodox Church for over 20 years (from 27.05.1992 to 05.07.2014). The primate ministry of His Beatitude Vladyka Vladimir was marked by the flourishing of church life in Ukraine.
