Bishop Tikhon prayerfully supports parishioners of the Annunciation church in Kolomyia

On July 9 His Grace Tikhon, Bishop of Ivano-Frankovsk and Kolomyia, led the reading of the Acathistos to Jesus Christ in front of the Holy Annunciation temple in Kolomyia, informs the eparchy’s site.

His Grace Bishop was assisted by clergymen of the church and priests of the eparchy who gathered for prayerful support of the faithful of the UOC Annunciation temple. For more than a month, parishioners have been compelled to pray in the open air, in front of the closed doors of the temple.

On June 4, 2017, on the day of the Holy Trinity, the Greek Catholic priests made an attempt to seize the Annunciation temple in Kolomyia resulting in the church being sealed.

Representatives of the Orthodox community note that the prayerful standing near the temple will continue until their constitutional rights are restored and the temple is opened.
