UAOC bishops pressed to elect a new head and join the KP, – mass media

The mass media report that the bishops of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church are now under pressure to agree to unite with the Kiev Patriarchate. This would simplify the creation of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Church.

"We are now under serious pressure on the bishops," the "Arguments and Facts" in Ukraine" cites its source in the UAOC. "They are offered to send Metropolitan Makary to rest and elect a new head of the church. And this new head should ensure the merger of the UAOC and the UOC-KP, resulted in the appearance of a completely new structure, which will be given the name of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, stolen from the UOC. You will see that now draft law No. 5309 will be "promoted" in every possible way, creating favorable conditions for its adoption."

On July 12, the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Culture and Spirituality considered and approved draft law No. 5309 "On Amending the Law of Ukraine "On Freedom of Conscience and Religious Organizations ". The bill proposes to amend the law "with respect to the name of religious organizations (associations) that are part of a religious organization (association) whose governing center (management) is outside Ukraine, in a state which, according to the Law of Ukraine, is recognized as carrying out military aggression against Ukraine and / or temporarily occupied part of the territory of Ukraine".
