Athos monks tell when the war in the east of Ukraine will end
"It depends on our prayer, on our repentance, there are many different factors that will contribute to this, we, on our part, should pray, zealously pray for peace, and this should be our daily prayer, for the sake of peace," said the elder monk Paisii.
Elder hieromonk Chrysostom stressed that people should not mourn the fate and grieve that they are unhappy, sick or infirm. "Christ does not want us to be unhappy, destitute, defeated, frightened, desperate or distressed. He does not want our looks to evoke pity and sympathy," said the monk.
We must have faith, strength, courage, hope, patience, perseverance and struggle," said hieromonk Chrysostom, who said that Christ taught people not to give up, not to lose heart, not to worry and panic. He recalled Jesus' words: "Know that I have overcome the troubles of the world, and you can do it with me. Do not doubt, trust me. Together we will win if you want it."
"God will bless our prayer, and there will be peace," he added.
The hieromonk advised to mention the destitute in our prayers, because there are so many such people.
Elder hieromonk Chrysostom studied at the Theological Academy of Thessaloniki. Since 1993 for 22 years he was a novice of the highly educated monk Moses in the Kaliva of St. John Chrysostom the sacred monastery of St. Panteleimon. Together with the elder, Moses began the restoration of the destroyed Kaliva, which continues after the death of the tutor.
Elder monk Paisii in 1983 became a monk on Mount Athos in the monastery of Kutlumush. As a monk he continued his education at the master's level in the specialty "History of the Church". Since 2000, he has been a monk of the cell of the Holy Archangels of the Hilandar Monastery, where, together with other brothers, he writes icons and tries to restore old buildings of the cell.
