UOC KP consecrates the “icon” with soldiers fighting in Donbass

In St. Michael's Golden-Domed Cathedral in Kiev, representatives of the Kyiv Patriarchate "consecrated" a new "icon", which depicts the law enforcers fighting in Donbass, and the participants of the Maidan, reports Vesti.

The icon "Patroness of Ukrainian Warriors" was created by artist Yuri Nikitin. In the upper part of the image he placed the Mother of God, and below – those whom he called "the defenders of Ukraine." To them, Nikitin ascribed simultaneously the Holy Prince Vladimir the Great, hetman Ivan Mazepa, Cossacks, participants of the Maidan and fighters who were involved in military operations in Donbass.

According to the television channel, the idea of creating the icon was favored by the UOC-KP military chaplains.
