ROC: Metropolitan Onufry does not abandon attempts to release prisoners of war in Donbass

On November 15, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, at the request of His Beatitude Metropolitan of Kiev and All Ukraine, Onufry asked the leaders of the Russian Federation to assist in the release of those prisoners of war who are still captured. This is reported by Patriarchia.ru.

Patriarch Kirill called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to continue his efforts to release prisoners of war in the Donbass, which have been repeatedly discussed with the leadership of the Russian Federation at his request and at the request of Metropolitan Onufry.

"Some requests were granted. The role of the Church in such conflicts has, in the first place, a humanitarian dimension because people suffer, become victims of this hard conflict, which really makes very many people suffer," stressed the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church.

As noted, the Church is concerned that in the last 14 months there have been no opportunities provided for the exchange of about 400 prisoners of war that can be released.
