Kamenets-Podolsky eparchy responds to media slander on cross procession
Cross Procession to Pochaev Lavra, 2018 year
The Kamenets-Podolsky eparchy has nothing to do with the distribution of paraphernalia during the procession to the Pochaev Lavra. It was stated by Protopriest Tarasy Zabudko on his Facebook page.
According to him, the Ukrainian media reported that during the cross procession to the Pochaev Lavra the representatives of the Kamenets-Podolsky eparchy handed out to the believers T-shirts with the inscription: "Prepare for war, prompt the brave; let all the fighters rise up. Make swords out of your plows and spears out of your sickles; let the weak say, "I am strong."
"These words are a quote from the book of Joel 3.9-10 and do not contain anything criminal even from the point of view of law enforcement officers, who accompanied the procession from the first day to the last," the priest said.
Father Tarasy testified that neither this year nor ever before some religious or other attributes have been distributed during the organization of the religious procession by the Kamenets-Podolsky eparchy.
"Therefore, information about the T-shirts that were ostensibly received from the organizers of the cross procession is false," the clergyman said adding that journalists should be more attentive to the information they are disseminating.
According to the UOJ, on August 19, the Holiday of the Transfiguration of the Lord, the faithful of the Kamenets-Podolsky eparchy began the procession to the Pochaev Lavra. The total number of pilgrims this year exceeded 20 000 people.
