Filaret insists on transfer of the Lavra’s 19th building to UOC KP
Filaret has repeatedly stated that the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra should belong to the SLC
According to the UOJ sources, in the evening of September 7, the head of the Keiv Patriarchate met with Acting Director of the National Kiev-Pechersk Historical and Cultural Reserve Alexander Rudnik and demanded the transfer of the 19th building of the Lavra to the Kiev Patriarchate.
Filaret insisted that this be done soon.
As reported by the UOJ, the head of the Kiev Patriarchate has repeatedly stated that the Kiev-Pechersk and Pochaev Lavra, which belong to the UOC, must be owned by the new Local Church, which Filaret himself intends to lead.
In September 2017, Minister of Culture of Ukraine Yevgeny Nishchuk appointed Alexander Rudnik acting director of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra Reserve, who, according to experts, had nothing to do with culture. The competition for the post was held in violation of the procedure.
