Filaret: We expect to receive Tomos on October 9-11
Head of the UOC KP Filaret
The decision on Tomos can be taken on October 9-11, said the head of the UOC KP Filaret in an interview with “Channel 5”.
According to him, as soon as the decision on the Tomos is adopted, a “unification Council” will be convened.
“I think that we will not delay the convocation of the Council,” Filaret said. “If the Tomos is adopted on October 9-11 of this year, then in October we can convene this Council. If the Tomos is adopted later, then, of course, it will be convened later, but this year, we hope that all this will happen."
The leader of the Kiev Patriarchate said that the newly elected head of the future Church will receive the Tomos.
“But the head of the Ukrainian Church will be elected at the Council, and the unification Council will consist of the hierarchs of the Kiev Patriarchate (UOC KP) – 41 hierarchs, 12 bishops of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Church (UAOC) and 10 bishops of the Moscow Patriarchate,” stated the head of the UOC KP.
Earlier, Filaret said that the Tomos on autocephaly should be obtained before the presidential elections in Ukraine, because the new government may not be interested in creating the SLC.
As reported by the mass media, a meeting of the Synod of the Church of Constantinople is scheduled for October 9-11.
