Mass media: Phanar believes Filaret’s Lavra-raiding rhetoric delays Tomos
Head of the UOC KP Filaret
Each statement made by Filaret on the prospect of seizing Lavras, monasteries and temples postpones the prospect of receiving a Tomos. It is reported by Kommersant, referring to its sources in the Church of Constantinople.
“Filaret and the UOC KP do not exist for us, while the UOC is now legally a part of the ROC,” said the Kommersant source in the Patriarchate of Constantinople. “The primate of the new Church will be elected in Constantinople but each utterance made by Filaret about the prospect of seizing the Lavras, monasteries and temples postpones the prospect of receiving the Tomos. Constantinople does not need Ukrainian believers to be beaten.”
As the UOJ reported earlier, on September 28, activists from the Right Sector organization seized part of the premises at the Holy Trinity Church in the village of Bogorodchany, Ivano-Frankovsk region and bashed believers of the UOC.
The head of the UOC KP Filaret has repeatedly stressed that the Kiev-Pechersk and Pochaev monasteries, which belong to the UOC, should belong to the new Local Church, which Filaret himself plans to lead.
