Draft statute of OCU published: without patriarch and reckon with UOC KP
St. Sophia Cathedral
It follows from the document that the new church will be headed by the metropolitan, who will be elected at the “local council”. Under the "metropolitan" there will be organized a "synod", consisting of 12 “bishops”. Moreover, every six months, half of the members of the Synod will be replaced on a rotatory basis. Thus, the authority of a member of the Synod will last for one year.
The published document, which the Ukrainskaya Pravda (“Ukrainian Truth”) publication got at its disposal, did not take into account the amendments made by the working group consisting of the Exarchs of Constantinople and representatives of the UOC KP and the UAOC. The amendments and additions to the statutes adopted at the “bishop’s” council of the UOC KP on 12 December 2018 were not taken into account either. The content of the document does not differ from the draft statute, adopted at the meeting of the Synod of the Constantinople Patriarchate on 29 November 2018.
The holy myrrh for performing the sacrament of anointment will be received by the new church from Istanbul.
The UOJ is conducting a live broadcast from the St. Sophia Cathedral, where the “Unification Council” is taking place.
Earlier, the Holy Synod of the UOC resolved to consider the "unification council" an unlawful assembly.
