Poroshenko campaign HQ promises to "curtail the Tomos theme" for elections
President Petro Poroshenko
Political scientists believe when Poroshenko is nominated for a candidate, the “Tomos theme” can have the opposite effect, reports «RBC-Ukraine».
"We risk getting the opposite effect as soon as he enters the status of a candidate, with his nomination, we curtail the topic of Tomos," said the source of the edition in the Poroshenko headquarters.
The presidential team added that they did not intend to exploit the church theme during the election campaign itself, and the “Tomos-tour” will be completed before Poroshenko’s nomination as presidential candidate.
As the UOJ reported, during January 2019, Petro Poroshenko, together with the “Honorary Patriarch” Filaret, visited a number of Ukrainian cities with the Tomos. The last stop of the tour was Zhitomir.
Earlier in Ukraine, there appeared billboards advertising the tour of Petro Poroshenko with the Tomos. After Rovno and Vinnitsa, the President showed the Tomos in Lutsk, the central city of the “eparchy” of “Metropolitan” Mikhail Zinkevich, whom Poroshenko thanked for the “courageous decision” at the “Unification Council” to yield the primacy in the OCU to the current “head” Epiphany.
