Washington welcomed the creation of the OCU, the Embassy of Ukraine in the USA reported on its Facebook page.

Members of the US Senate on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the Revolution of Dignity in Ukraine and in memory of the Heroes of Heavenly Hundred unanimously adopted a resolution in which the creation of a new religious organization was called "an important milestone in Ukraine’s building its own future free from Russian influence".

More than 20 senators, the authors of this document, also noted the “progress of Ukraine in the establishment of the rule of law”.

Earlier, the head of the UAOC, Makariy Maletich, noted that Phanar had issued the Tomos for the OCU thanks to its confidence in US support.

On July 17, 2019, US President Donald Trump met with the head of the Greek Archdiocese of the Patriarchate of Constantinople in America, Archbishop Elpidophoros (Lambriniadis) of America. “The President was extremely happy and expressed satisfaction that we had met. I thanked him for the support of Christians throughout the world and especially for the support of the Ecumenical Patriarchate,” said the hierarch of Phanar.
