Three saints to be canonized at Kiev-Pechersk Lavra on the Rus Baptism Day

On July 28, 2019, during the Divine Liturgy on the feast of the Baptism of Rus, there will be a solemn canonization of the holy rectors of Kiev Theological Academy – St. Basil (Bogdashevsky) the confessor, St. Sylvester (Malevansky), and KTA professor, holy martyr Alexander Glagolev. This was announced during the briefing on TV channel 112-Ukraine by the Chancellor of the UOC, Metropolitan Anthony of Borispol and Brovary.

“Today, vespers will be held and tomorrow, on the day of the feast, the Divine Liturgy will begin at 9 am its feature being the canonization of the three saints, whom the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church recently ranked with the sainthood – the rectors of Kiev Theological Academy, Bishop Sylvester (Malevansky) and Bishop Basil (Bogdashevsky), and Father Alexander Glagolev.

Therefore, we invite everyone to prayer today. And tomorrow morning – to the Divine Liturgy,” said the UOC hierarch.

His Eminence also invited believers on these days to come and venerate the shrines having been delivered to Kiev on the occasion of the Baptism of Rus Holiday.
