With the blessing of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine, on August 24, 2019, on the 28th anniversary of the independence of Ukraine, special services will be held in all churches and monasteries of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, reports the UOC Information and Education Department.

The clergy and believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church will pray for Ukraine, peace in the state and the Ukrainian people.

On August 12, a corresponding circular was sent to all the eparchial bishops of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that the UOC appealed to the new Ukrainian authorities with an initiative to resume the process of release of Ukrainian captives and asks for an exchange in the "all-for-all" format.
