The Ministry of Culture of Ukraine reported that they would fine Filaret Denisenko if he further demanded to block the re-registration of a number of religious objects of the UOC-KP, which, according to officials, belong to the OCU. A copy of the letter from the Ministry of Culture was published by the Telegram channel “Churcher”.
The authors of the channel report that “since Filaret was clearly not satisfied with the deprivation of his right to govern the Kiev Eparchy, he wrote a letter to the Ministry of Culture in which he demanded to stop the registration process of several organizations belonging to the OCU.”
In response, the Ministry of Culture assured the “patriarch” Filaret that all officials of the department act and will act exclusively within the framework of Ukrainian legislation.
In addition, the Ministry of Culture warned Denisenko that such demands on his part could be regarded as “attempts to intervene in the activities of officials”, which “entails responsibility in accordance with the law,” that is, a fine of one hundred to one hundred and fifty non-taxable minimum personal incomes.
Filaret was also reminded that the UOC-KP in accordance with the decisions of the “Unification Council” no longer exists, and the Kiev Patriarchate became part of the OCU.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that the UOC-KP intends through courts to declare illegal the decisions of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine on canceling the statutes of the Kiev Patriarchate.
