Today, on September 10, 2019, about 200 believers and 30 clergymen from the Rovno and Sarna Eparchies of the UOC gathered at the entrance to the international airport in Rovno to meet President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky and ask him to protect their constitutional rights. This was reported by the UOJ correspondent.
Mostly parishioners, who had suffered from the raider actions of the OCU in the region, came to meet with the President. In their hands they held posters calling to stop the persecution of the UOC and protect the constitutional rights of believers: “the UOC is outside politics,” “the Church is the House of God, not an arena for political manipulation”, “Mr. President, stop the persecution of believers of the UOC” and others.
The meeting of Vladimir Zelensky, who arrived in Rovno today to introduce a new governor of the region, was scheduled for 11 am.
Note that the new head of the Regional State Administration of the Rovno region was 38-year-old Vitaliy Koval – the head of the company engaged in road construction.
Recall that in May 2019, the Main Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine opened a criminal case against the former chairman of the Rovno Regional State Administration Alexey Muliarenko on the fact that the official issued illegal orders to transfer the UOC communities to the jurisdiction of the new church structure. The official wrote a letter of resignation, but the illegal re-registration of the UOC communities in favor of the OCU continued being signed up now by the new acting head of RSA Igor Timoshenko.
