On November 22, Primate of the Orthodox Church of Greece, Archbishop Ieronymos, during his meeting with the US Ambassador to Greece Goeffrey Pyatt discussed the recent developments in Orthodoxy in light of the “Ukrainian issue”, reports Orthodox Times edition.
In particular, the Archbishop was the first to meet after his return from the United States, admitted the US Ambassador.
The American Ambassador told the Archbishop that during his talks in the American capital the name of Primate Ieronymos was mentioned many times, as, according to Ambassador Pyatt, in the American capital, the issue of the Church of Ukraine is hotly debated.
In addition, Mr Pyatt noted he was happy to return to Athens, “because it is winter in America now.” Archbishop Ieronymos for his part agreed that the climate in Greece is better. “If we see how things evolve in the world, it is winter. Therefore, we must help, each one from his side, spring to come.”
At the meeting with the US Ambassador, Archbishop Ieronymos said he was particularly concerned about the developments in the refugee issue and told the US Ambassador that Greece is continuously blackmailed by Turkey that opens the gates by sending refugees and immigrants to our country.
Earlier the UOJ wrote that the US Ambassador to Greece approved of the decision of Archbishop Ieronymos to recognize the OCU.
