Serbian hierarch: Problem of loss of unity – the result of Phanar’s actions

Bishop of Bačka, the hierarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church, stated that the problems of loss of unity in Orthodoxy are the result of the actions of the Patriarchate of Constantinople. He spoke about this in an interview with the edition “Russian Orthodoxy in Great Britain and Western Europe”.

According to the bishop, the position of Patriarch Bartholomew is “neither canonical nor traditional, nor is it realistic, especially when that primate’s actions are themselves amongst the subjects such a council might be called to discuss".

“While it is true that, in its origins, the present situation of the Patriarchate of Constantinople’s relationship to the rest of the Orthodox world began in the territorial realms of jurisdictional incursion and a misuse of authority and power, it has since escalated directly into the realms of dogma — of the sacraments, of the nature of the Church,” the hierarch noted.

That is why, he believes, issues related to the Patriarchate of Constantinople will be the focus of attention in Amman, although there are other problems that Primate and their representatives can discuss.

On February 26, 2020, the meeting of the Primate of the Local Orthodox Churches, convened by the Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem, is being held in the capital of Jordan, Amman.

The UOJ presents the online broadcast of the events.
