On February 26, 2020, during the Meeting of Primates of Local Orthodox Churches in Jordan, the Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Irinej of Serbia, declared the need to fight for the unity of world Orthodoxy, reports the DECR Communication Service of the Russian Church.

“Today we are faced with the task to fight for the unity of all Orthodox Churches, unity among us,” said His Holiness Patriarch Irinej of Serbia.

The Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church testified: "The only right decision is to assemble the Council, to say what needs to be said on it and resolve issues in the spirit of Orthodoxy."

He stated that the Serbian Church stands for the preservation of canonical principles and Christian heritage. “May God help us and bring unity to our Church. Because schism is a tragedy for the Church,” said Patriarch Irinej.

As reported earlier, the final Communiqué following the Meeting of Primates in Amman was published on the Net.
