On November 16, 2022, Metropolitan Isaiah of the Cypriot Orthodox Church of Tamassos stated that he takes the side of the Patriarchate of Constantinople in the conflict between the Phanar and the Russian Orthodox Church and that his decision was influenced by the war in Ukraine, reports "Romfea".
In an interview with the Greek outlet “RIK Radio”, "Romfea" writes, Metropolitan Isaiah, "touching on the issue of the conflict between the Constantinople Patriarchate and the Russian Church, said that his position on this conflict was determined the day after Russia's invasion of Ukraine”.
He stressed that the Cypriot Church agreed with the Constantinople Patriarchate on this particular issue.
According to Metropolitan Isaiah, a country like Cyprus, which is a victim of invasion and occupation, cannot agree with the position of revising the borders of another state.
As reported, a Cypriot Church hierarch arrived in Poland to help Ukrainian refugees.
