On March 27, 2020, with the blessing of Metropolitan Theodore of Mukachevo and Uzhgorod, and on the initiative of the head of the Youth Department of the Mukachevo Eparchy, Archimandrite Agapit (Shpiniak), the first charity bakery, which will distribute free bread to those in need during the coronavirus quarantine, was opened in Irshava, reports the eparchy’s press service.

The bakery opened as part of the “Grain of Good” charity project.

“In general, the project is extraordinary, because it is urgent and vital!” noted Archimandrite Agapit. “The charity bakery will work during the entire quarantine. During the week we plan to bake up to 5,000 loaves, which will be donated to all socially unprotected people, large families and low-income families, people with disabilities, lonely people, ATO participants and everyone who will need it.”

Bread for needy parishioners will be delivered to every church in the Irshava Deanery and religious communities of the region, as well as targeted to those who cannot leave the house.

The coordinators of the charity project ask for holy prayers in support of this initiative, as well as all possible help with the necessary baking products.

As reported earlier, the Mukachevo Eparchy launched an emergency charity project “Medicine for the Body and Soul” aimed at delivering free food and medicine to senior people.
