ES MP: The UTC head promised to help us seize the UOC temple in Trebukhiv

On December 18, 2022, in the village of Trebukhiv, Brovary district, Kyiv region (Boryspil eparchy), supporters of the OCU came to the UOC church in honor of the Intercession of the Mother of God in order to seize the shrine and hold their “worship” there. They were promised assistance in this by the head of the UTC, Ihor Sapozhko, and the head of the police of the Brovary district, Kyrylo Samoylenko. Bohdana Drach, MP from European Solidarity, spoke about this on her Facebook page.

According to her, OCU supporters with a package of “documents” came in the morning to the Intercession Church of the UOC, which they have been trying to seize since July 2022. They were sure they would be able to take over the shrine, because the head of the UTC and the chief of police had promised to come and help in seizing the temple, but they themselves did not come, nor did they send reinforcements.

“Ihor Sapozhko called on the deputies of the City Council to come and help us. There is no one except the deputies of the ES faction. There is no UTC head, there is no headman Andrey, there are no representatives of the UTC of Trebukhiv village. Will they help us? Who do they even work for?” questioned Drach indignantly.

She said that she agreed with Samoylenko that he would help the OCU members “organize everything” and “enter the temple,” however, when Drach called him in the morning, he offered to “come and resolve issues on the spot in a working order.”

As a result, the supporters of the OCU dispersed, promising to come next Sunday.

Believers of the UOC prayed in front of the temple and then served the Sunday liturgy.

Recall that on July 31, 2022, the community of the UOC Church in honor of the Intercession of the Mother of God in the village of Trebukhiv confirmed its loyalty to the UOC. On August 6, the authorities gathered state employees who, under the leadership of Mayor Ihor Sapozhko, voted for the “transition” of the UOC community to the OCU. In October, OCU activists again tried to seize the Intercession Church of the UOC.

As the UOJ wrote, in Mikhaiylivka-Rubezhivka, the defense forces and the mayor of Irpin seized the UOC temple.
