In his Christmas message, Patriarch Porfirije (Perić) of Serbia called the war in Ukraine tragic and fratricidal, spc.rs reports.
“The consequences of the tragic fratricidal Russian-Ukrainian conflict, fueled daily from abroad, are terrible, and the outbreak of a world war, like never before, is a menace looming over the entire world,” said the Primate of the Serbian Church.
Patriarch Porfirije called to pray for an end to the military conflict.
“For this reason, we turn to the newborn Christ with special fervent prayer, while addressing with a sincere brotherly appeal to all direct and indirect participants in the war, to find the strength in ourselves so that the suffering stops, the refugees return to cities and villages, and peace reigns in those areas that are engulfed by the fires of war,” he added.
As the UOJ reported earlier, Patriarch Porfirije received the Ambassador of Ukraine to Serbia.
