The Abbot of the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, Metropolitan Paul (Lebed) of Vyshgorod and Chornobyl, filed a lawsuit with the Kyiv-Pechersk court against Channel 5, the website of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra reports.

Yelena Isaevskaya, the lawyer of Metropolitan Paul, stated that the lawsuit has to do with the dissemination of false information about the alleged calls of the hierarch to come to the church in the period of exacerbation of the coronavirus in Ukraine.

According to her, Channel 5 not only dealt a blow to the reputation of the Church, but also provoked the discrediting of religion and propaganda of the conflict on religious grounds.

“Metropolitan Paul demands that Channel 5 immediately refute the falsehood and apologize to believers,” Isaevskaya noted. She is confident she will be able to prove an open trial that the information furnished by Channel 5 is not verified.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that Metropolitan Paul told about the situation with COVID-19 in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
