On June 25, 2020, on the feast day of the Monk Onuphrius the Great, primates and hierarchs of the Local Orthodox Churches sent congratulations to the Primate of the UOC, Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine, on the occasion of his St. Patron’s Day. This was reported by the Information and Education Department of the UOC.
In his welcoming speech, the Primate of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia, His Beatitude Metropolitan Rostislav, noted that His Beatitude is a real example of a monastic feat. "Seeing your labors, the Lord made you a bishop and entrusted you the Ukrainian Church, which you are now leading through the stormy sea to His saving cloisters."
The Primate of the Orthodox Church in America, His Beatitude Archbishop of Washington, Metropolitan Tikhon of America and Canada, said: “You are trying to follow your heavenly patron in prayer and asceticism. Your silent prayer and contemplation is exalted amongst the masses, while your ascetic feat is to diligently shepherd the faithful of Kyiv and Ukraine. Persist in such good deeds further, continually bringing yourself and people closer to our Lord. Praying for your good health and an early end of the coronavirus epidemic in Ukraine and around the world, I wish you long years of life on this festive day.”
The Archbishop of Montreal and Canada of ROCOR Gabriel wished His Beatitude particular strength and fortitide in order to continue to carry the obedience entrusted to him by the Lord, “because today your tireless work is especially important and necessary for our Church, for Orthodox Ukraine, for each and every one of us.”
Congratulations addressed to the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine, continue to be received.
As reported by the UOJ, earlier Metropolitan Anthony (Pakanich), Chancellor of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, congratulated His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry on his St. Patron’s Day.
