Pat. Bartholomew discusses ecumenism promotion with WCC interim secretary

Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople met with the interim secretary general of the World Council of Churches Ioannis Saoukas at the Orthodox Centre of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Sambezi, Geneva, to discuss ways to promote the ecumenical movement, reports Оrthodoxia.info.

The meeting took place within the framework of the preparations for the 11th Assembly of the PSE, which will take place in 2022.

The meeting was attended by the Metropolitans Athenagoras of Belgium, Maximos of Switzerland, as well as the Permanent Representative of the Ecumenical Patriarchate to the World Council of Churches Archbishop Job of Telmessos.

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew discussed with Fr. Ioannis Saoukas, who is the first Orthodox to serve in this important position of the PSE, ways to promote the ecumenical movement.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that the Phanar hierarch noted the great contribution of Patriarch Bartholomew to the ecumenical movement.
